My Uncle Tom and my Uncle Cracker are always getting into arguments, could it be race related?

I come from a family that is mixed, half white and half black. My Uncle Tom is my fathers brother, father is black, and my Uncle Cracker is my mothers brother, mom is white. Now I constantly hear them arguing with each other about how one family is not good enough for the other; I never hear racial slurs but it just seems like they dislike each other because of ethnicity. Are my thoughts reasonable?
