I have a magellan Explorist XL, and I have no idea how to download the geocache points without having to input by hand. I have all the programs for the XL , but it’s like you need a computer tech degree to get it to do what I want. Any good info will greatly help!
geocaching.com only supports garmin products at this time ,which still needs a quick garmin communicator plug in downloaded, so manual input may be the only way for you for now. sorry
As junebug501 points out, geocaching.com only supports direct downloads to Garmin at this time. My recommendation is to go to and download Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (GSAK) (I have no connection with GSAK other than being a very satisfied user). If you are a premium member on geocaching.com, you can download your pocket queries in .gpx format and use GSAK.to manage them and upload them to your Magellan. If you are not a premium member, you can still download the waypoints from the caches you intend to hunt in .loc format and use GSAK to manage them and send them to your Magellan.
There are forums on geocaching.com that can help as well as GSAK’s own support forum at
Happy Hunting!
