I lost my phone. How can I track it down?

I went shopping in 3 different cities and like 10 stores last night and when I got home, I didn’t have my phone. I know that my phone has the GPS tracker turned on and the battery was recently charged. How can I find my phone?
I called Verizon. They said that they can’t track a phone, but when my sister ran away a few months ago, they said they couldn’t track her because she turned her phone off, and when you call 911 they use cell towers to track your phone and turn on the chip in your phone that sends continuous data to the towers. After my sister ran away, I turned the chip on in my phone in case I lost it. Well now they claim they can’t do that. So I guess I’m SOL.
