How do I keep my flag from being stolen from a flag pole?

My flag was stolen the other week from my flag pole. It is a 20 ft. pole w/ external rope. I know there isn’t much I can do about them cutting the rope and just taking it, but is there anything out there I could do to prevent them from just taking it down and taking it?

I know there is already another question like this, but the answers she got were dumb. A security camera with night vision or putting a GPS tracker on the flag is unrealistic a little extreme.

This is for a fraternity house working on a budget.

It was not a U.S. Flag so it is flown at night, more so because of laziness rather then on purpose… something i’m working on, but i’m still up for more suggestions
