Do the legs for the floor tom of a drum kit always fit any kit’s floor tom?

I got a new drum kit a few days ago, but the legs of the floor tom won’t fit inside the area where they’re supposed to go in, so i’m wondering whether there are different sizes or if i’m doing something wrong.
